Significance:
Makara Sankranti is dedicated to the Hindu religion sun god (Surya) and regarded as important for spiritual practices when sun god start shifting towards north side called Uttarayana, people take a holy bath in rivers. Wainganga is the holy river like The Ganga and devotees visit wainganga bank(Ghat) and eat maize/ paddy Laiya, Khichdi with sesame seeds and jaggery laddus. Fairs(Mela) organized in different places on Wainganga banks (Ghat) such as Mundara, Mungvani, Digghauri, Majhgawan, Kothighat, Siddhghat, Panchdhara, Ugli, Bhimgarh Dam, Hirri Wainganga Sangam Sarekha kala. On the bank of Maa Narmada Paili, Bagdari, Dhuma mal, the Gram Panchayat of the Kindari area, Chhatha Ghat of Chhindwaha also makar sankranti celebrated every year.
